Korean honorifics for K-pop idols: oppa, unnie, hyung, noona

Korean address terms depend on two things at once: your gender and whether the idol is older than you. A woman calls an older male idol 오빠 (oppa) and an older female idol 언니 (unnie); a man calls an older male idol 형 (hyung) and an older female idol 누나 (noona). The word encodes the speaker's gender, not just the idol's.

Almost no other language packs the speaker's own gender and the listener's seniority into a single word, so the tool keeps the Korean honorific and translates only the rest. Korean honorifics are age-based, so you don't use older-sibling terms for a younger idol. Use their name with the vocative 아 (after a consonant) or 야 (after a vowel), or 막내 (maknae) for the youngest member. Casual speech (반말) feels warm here, but polite speech is always a safe, respectful default.
