How do you write KATSEYE and the members' names in Korean?
KATSEYE is written 캣츠아이 in Korean. The HYBE and Geffen Records global girl group was formed through the audition series The Debut: Dream Academy and debuted in the United States on June 28, 2024. Its six members are 다니엘라 (Daniela), 라라 (Lara), 마농 (Manon), 메간 (Megan), 소피아 (Sophia) and 윤채 (Yoonchae), spelled the way Korean newspapers spell them. Manon has been taking a break from activities since February 2026 and Sophia since August 2026, so KATSEYE is currently performing as four: Daniela, Lara, Megan and Yoonchae.
Our app translates fan messages from 28 languages into Korean, and until this week the group name was the part our pipeline got wrong. KATSEYE came back as 캣아이, which is simply “cat eye” in Hangul, in 25 of 27 runs, and the other two were misspelled as well. Megan came back as 메건 in 8 of 9 runs, and Yoonchae on her own came back as 은채 in all 3. The rule we added this week pins all three: 캣츠아이 in 27 of 27 runs, 메간 and 윤채 in every run, and sentences our rule never shows as examples, like “Katseye, please come back to Manila soon, we miss you”, now come back right, on the live site too. The lines below write the group and the members the way the Korean press does.
- Meeting KATSEYE was my good luck — 캣츠아이를 만난 건 제 행운이에요 Make this into a card
- Daniela, Lara, Megan, Yoonchae, I'm cheering for you today too — 다니엘라, 라라, 메간, 윤채, 오늘도 응원해요 Make this into a card
- KATSEYE, I'll always be waiting for you — 캣츠아이, 언제나 기다릴게요 Make this into a card
- Thanks to KATSEYE, I'm learning Korean — 캣츠아이 덕분에 한국어를 배우고 있어요 Make this into a card
What does EYEKONS (아이콘즈) mean?
EYEKONS, written 아이콘즈 in Korean, is KATSEYE's fandom name, announced in April 2024. The name is usually explained as the EYE in KATSEYE plus icon. In Korean it stays 아이콘즈 for one fan or for all of them, and the 즈 matters: 아이콘 on its own is also how Korean writes the boy group iKON, so 아이콘즈 is the spelling that points to KATSEYE.
Until this week our translator wrote the name two ways. A capitalized EYEKONS standing alone, next to the group name or in a Japanese sentence came back as 아이콘즈 in 12 of 12 runs. Lower-case eyekons, the singular eyekon, the plural Eyekons and Spanish and Filipino sentences came back as 아이콘 in 23 of 24 runs. The rule we added this week pins every form to 아이콘즈, in 36 of 36 runs, while iKON still comes back as 아이콘 and the ordinary word icon is left alone. “all the Eyekons in Manila are waiting for you” now comes back as 아이콘즈 on the live site. The lines below use the name the way Eyekons write it in Korean.
- Eyekons are always on KATSEYE's side — 아이콘즈는 언제나 캣츠아이 편이에요 Make this into a card
- Being one of the Eyekons makes me so happy — 아이콘즈라서 정말 행복해요 Make this into a card
- Eyekons all over the world are cheering for you — 세계 어디서든 아이콘즈가 응원하고 있어요 Make this into a card
- Eyekons will always be by your side — 아이콘즈가 늘 곁에 있을게요 Make this into a card
How do you congratulate KATSEYE on WILD in Korean?
WILD, written 와일드 in Korean, came out on August 14, 2026 and became KATSEYE's first No. 1 on the Billboard 200. THE WILDWORLD TOUR opened in Dublin on September 1 and moved to North America on October 13, starting in Miami. Our translator writes most KATSEYE titles correctly in Korean: 날리 (Gnarly), 가브리엘라 (Gabriela), 터치 (Touch), 핑키 업 (PINKY UP) and 와일드 (WILD) came back right in all 3 runs each. Animal, the pre-release single from July, is the exception, and we would rather say so: it stayed in Latin letters in every run, both before and after the group-name rule, which was never about titles. Latin letters cannot be written on a Hangul-only card, so a title that stays in English simply drops out of the handwritten line.
In Korean, Animal is written 애니멀, and one of the lines below already uses it. If you name another song, write the Korean title yourself, or start from these lines, which keep every word in Hangul.
- Congratulations on reaching the top of the Billboard chart — 빌보드 정상에 오른 거 정말 축하해요 Make this into a card
- The WILD album lifts me up every time I listen — 와일드 앨범은 들을 때마다 힘이 나요 Make this into a card
- Animal is my favorite song — 애니멀은 제가 제일 좋아하는 노래예요 Make this into a card
- Eyekons will be with you all the way on this tour too — 이번 투어도 아이콘즈가 끝까지 함께할게요 Make this into a card
